Children and families minister Robert Goodwill visited the West Street Neighbourhood Nursery and West Street Children’s Centre to talk to parents, carers and staff.
He also met with the leader of Bexley Council, Cllr Teresa O’Neill OBE, and cabinet members Cllrs Philip Read and John Fuller on Thursday, December 14.
The visit focused on the early years funding formula and the national 30-hour childcare offer.
Cllr Teresa O’Neill said: “This was a chance for our cabinet members to tell the minister how well the funding formula has been working for us in Bexley and to show him one of our key children’s centres.
“As an outer London borough our work is not always highlighted as we think it should be, so I’m delighted that the minister chose to visit.”
The introduction of national funding for early years has allowed Bexley to improve funding for three and four year olds by 17per cent in 2017-18.
