The MP for Scarborough and Whitby has been reacting to 'SEND' education in North Yorkshire.
A strategic plan was given the go-ahead last week for those with special educational needs and disabilities.
Robert Goodwill said:
"I think it's a very sensible decision made by North Yorkshire County Council.
It will put more of our own specialist provision in place.
We won't have the situation where the only available option is a very, very expensive private sector place in a setting where I think, are making excessive profits out of some of our most vulnerable children.
North Yorkshire is the only place in the entire country that got excellent right across the board, in terms of looked after children, in terms of the way children with special needs are looked after.
It's absolutely fantastic news and all credit due to the social workers and administrators who have delivered on that."
