Scarborough MP Robert Goodwill has given his support to three local fundraisers as they prepare for a marathon 260-mile cycle ride in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Travelodge Scarborough manager Danny Donnelly, trainee manager Jordan Padgham and team member Sean Fewster plan to tackle the bike ride through Yorkshire between 1st and 6th June.
And who better to wish them well on the trip than Mr Goodwill – who is a minister in the Department of Transport.
“This is a substantial trip these two guys are taking on and I wish them the best of luck,” said Mr Goodwill. “They are doing it for a fantastic cause and I hope local people will get behind them and support their efforts.”
The two have been boosted in their preparations by the loan of a bike from Betta Motoring in Scarborough.
Jordan said: “We are really pleased Mr Goodwill has given us his support for the ride – it is good to know your local MP is behind you. “We are also really grateful to Betta Motoring for the loan. Although we have bikes, they are not really up to the job for this ride and Betta Motoring’s kind gesture will make things a lot easier for us.”
