Local MP, Robert Goodwill, toured Scarborough-based modular framing producer, LGSF, last week to examine their manufacturing facility. ‘Modular manufacturing is a key route to solving the housing crisis. LGSF and Scarborough are leading the way in this industry’ said Robert.
Based in Eastfield, near Scarborough, LGSF have been working with steel for over 30 years. A family run business, supported by an ever-growing 80 strong team, LGSF have developed a unique modular housing structure allowing new houses to be built entirely off-site. This type of structure has been hailed as a route to solving the housing crisis by the Government, dramatically cutting down the time and cost of building a new house whilst upholding the structural integrity of other construction methods.
Robert Goodwill, the Member of Parliament for Scarborough and Whitby, visited to understand how this local business is planning on growing in the future, boosting manufacturing jobs in the area, and investing in the local economy. During his visit he met with the staff, to understand how the company design the buildings, and went on a tour of the factory floor, seeing at first-hand the steel mills at work.
Chris Cade, Managing Director, said ‘It was fantastic of Robert to take the time and come and tour our factory. We have ambitious plans for the future and want to use our UK manufacturing expertise to grow and bring more jobs and investment to Scarborough’.
