If we want people to come to the coast with electric cars we need somewhere for them to charge them."
That's from Transport Minister, and MP for Scarborough and Whitby, Robert Goodwill.
He's supporting the use of electric cars, which are better for the environment, but admits it's embarrassing there's only one charging point in his area.
Robert says it's important we provide charging points here, he said:
"I think that's a challenge maybe for the local authority or maybe a challenge for some enterprising people to put some charging points in.
I think as we see more electric cars we're going to see more requirements for charging, particularly overnight charging because many of the people in Scarborough who have chosen to buy an electric car may have their own overnight charging facilities, and of course electric cars only really work if you've got overnight charging when there's capacity in the electricity system."
