Scarborough's MP has visited the town's new lifeboat as it is being built in Poole and says it is a "force to be reckoned with." Robert Goodwill, Minister of State at the Department for Transport, visited the Shannon class lifeboat which is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
The boat is the RNLI's most agile and manoeuvrable all weather lifeboat yet. It is designed to be launched and recovered from a beach via a new faster and safer launch and recovery system, as well as lie afloat.Mr Goodwill said: "It's an amazing piece of kit. It's a multimillion pound investment in saving lives which is phenomenally important."
