The Government has provided a comprehensive response to an article in the Sunday Times which contains a series of falsehoods and errors.

As a former Minister who served in four departments and attended COBR meetings, I found the Sunday Times' main claim, that it is unusual for the Prime Minister not to chair COBR, rather strange. As the Department for Health state, 'it is entirely normal and proper for COBR to be chaired by the relevant Secretary of State.'
The Government also make clear that the NHS been able to provide treatment to everyone in critical need and the Department for Health began work on boosting PPE stocks in January.
